The Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) (Amendment) Rules, 2026 were notified as G.S.R. 789(E) on 9 September 2026 and are in force from 1 January 2027. This page summarises the parts SahiSeal is built around. It is not legal advice; read the notification for the exact text.
Rule 4(15): dark-pattern self-audit certificate
A yearly self-audit against the 13 dark patterns named in the Guidelines for Prevention and Regulation of Dark Patterns, 2023, with the resulting certificate displayed on the store. The 13 patterns: false urgency, basket sneaking, confirm shaming, forced action, subscription trap, interface interference, bait and switch, drip pricing, disguised advertisement, nagging, trick question, SaaS billing and rogue malware.
Rule 4(13): prior price for 30 days
When a price reduction is shown, the lowest price in the 30 days before it is displayed next to the current price. SahiSeal records price history from the day it is installed so that this label can be shown accurately; the label itself comes in a later version.

A grievance officer whose details are published, complaints acknowledged within 48 hours with a copy of the complaint, and resolved within one month.

What SahiSeal does
SahiSeal is a Shopify app in development that structures and records these steps for a store. It records the merchant's own self-audit; it does not audit or certify anyone's store.
