Country of origin and importer details
Import disclosures · in force 1 January 2027
The Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) (Amendment) Rules, 2026 (G.S.R. 789(E), notified 9 September 2026, in force 1 January 2027) amend the import disclosure rule: product pages show the country of origin and, for imported goods, the importer's name and address.
How SahiSeal handles it
- The merchant sets the country of origin for each product from a list of country names, and the importer's name and address for imported goods.
- A product-page block shows "Country of origin" and, when set, "Imported by". Products without a country show nothing.
- The details are stored as Shopify product metafields, so they can also be used elsewhere in the theme.
